Job summary

The City of Hollywood, Florida is seeking a Director of Engineering & Construction Services within the Public Utilities Department. You will plan, organize, and direct all activities for the division, managing capital improvement programs across water, stormwater, and wastewater projects.

This leadership role requires a Florida P.E., a strong background in utilities construction and project management, and the ability to work with senior management on policy and budget decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil, mechanical, or sanitary/environmental engineering with at least 10 years of progressive professional experience.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer (Civil or Environmental) in the State of Florida.
• MBA or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering is preferred.
• Experience in utilities management or construction management is advantageous.
• Valid Driver’s License with proof of automobile insurance; background and driving checks required.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, and directs all activities for the Engineering & Construction Services Division.
• Oversees capital improvement program for Water, Storm water, and Wastewater divisions.
• Prepares budgets and cost estimates for complex projects; coordinates procurement.
• Ensures compliance with EPA, Florida DEP, and Broward County regulations.
• Represents department in meetings; communicates policy direction to staff.
• Evaluates engineering solutions and maintains cost controls within budgets.
