Responsibilities

  • Plans, coordinates, and manages the operations of a division of the Engineering Department; provides management, direction, and guidance to staff and ensures the effective completion of department activities
  • Reviews, evaluates, and determines scope of work for various work orders, projects, and contracts; attends monthly status meetings and ensures completion
  • Applies and implements technical and professional expertise to large and complex engineering projects and personnel; assists customers with engineering requests
  • Ensures public works capital improvement projects are designed, permitted, and completed timely and professionally; manages projects and provides direction for staff
  • Prepares and maintains project budgets and schedules; participates in budgets and resource allocation
  • Coordinates, develops, and implements design and development of specifications for construction of city facilities; responds to utility emergencies and makes recommendations
  • Administers, manages, and oversees consultant agreements; monitors contract details and ensures delivery; signs off on permits
  • Prepares reports and feasibility studies; collects data and presents details to directors
  • Plans, prioritizes, and schedules work assignments of staff engineers; manages workload and provides performance feedback
  • Performs other duties as assigned
