Job summary

City of Fort Myers is seeking an experienced leader to manage the Utilities Engineering division, directing planning, design, and construction management of water, sewer, and other facilities. You will oversee staff, collaborate with external agencies, and guide capital improvement initiatives to serve the City.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree, a Florida PE license or ability to obtain within one year, and at least ten years in public works with supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
• Ten years’ of progressively responsible experience in public works or related work; two years in supervision.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Florida PE license or ability to obtain within one year.

Responsibilities

• Manage Utilities Engineering staff and provide professional engineering support to City staff for water, sewer, and utility facilities.
• Plan, design, and manage construction projects and capital improvements.
• Coordinate with County, State, and Federal agencies on engineering matters.
• Prepare and manage budgets for Utilities Engineering and capital improvement programs.
• Attend City Council meetings as required and ensure compliance with codes and standards.
