Job summary

The City of Fort Lauderdale seeks an advanced professional and administrative engineer to lead planning, design, and construction of capital improvement projects in water, wastewater, and storm drainage. You will oversee consultants and contractors, review plans, and ensure regulatory compliance across municipal public works utilities.

Ideal candidates hold a civil engineering degree with PE licensure and 3–5 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, architecture, civil engineering, or related field.
• Three to five years of experience in construction management and/or engineering.
• A master’s degree may substitute for 1–2 years of experience.
• Veterans’ Preference documentation may be required.

Responsibilities

• Review permits, plans, and specifications for water, wastewater, and storm drainage to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
• Perform water and sewer system modeling to verify design viability and determine needed upgrades.
• Monitor infrastructure capacity and aid programming of capital improvement projects.
• Provide input for developing city codes, standard details, and specifications.
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, City departments, and stakeholders from design through construction.
