Job summary

Capital Group in Southern California is seeking a Senior Manager for Portfolio Construction to lead the Tools and Insights capabilities within RAPC. You will guide an engineering organization that helps investment professionals understand portfolio positioning, evaluate risks, and model actions with confidence.

You will coach engineers, decide roadmaps, and partner with Product and investment professionals to align priorities.

Qualifications

  • Strong partnership instincts; able to shape strategy and co-own roadmaps.
  • Deep understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including distributed systems, cloud architecture, APIs, testing, observability, security.
  • Experience building investor-facing products with underlying platforms and data capabilities.
  • Experience with investment workflows, portfolio construction, risk analytics, performance measurement.
  • Able to navigate ambiguity and translate detail into direction.
  • Establish discipline and empower teams to innovate.
  • Use agile and metrics-driven practices to improve delivery.
  • Strong communication with engineers, Product, investment professionals, and senior leaders.
  • Develop engineering managers and senior contributors, creating growth environments.
  • Pragmatic balance of long-term architecture with near-term business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve RAPC's Tools and Insights strategy with Product and stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain a clear roadmap balancing investor value, technical sustainability, and organizational capacity.
  • Lead engineering execution across a portfolio of investor-facing tools and insights.
  • Use agile and metrics-driven engineering practices to improve delivery, health, and accountability.
  • Establish operating mechanisms to provide visibility into roadmap progress, capacity, delivery health, risks, and outcomes.
  • Establish a culture of operational excellence focused on reliability, quality, performance, and supportability.
  • Guide architectural direction across RAPC's Tools and Insights capabilities, promoting reusable components and shared platforms.
  • Champion AI and agentic engineering practices across the software lifecycle to boost productivity and value.
  • Collaborate with Product and investment professionals to identify opportunities and prioritize investments.
  • Coach engineering managers to operate effectively across organizational boundaries.
  • Create an environment where teams can do their best work with modern engineering practices.
