Uber is seeking a Senior Manager of Science to lead a talented team of scientists, define the technical roadmap, and drive high-impact analytics across UberEats experiences for eaters and merchants.

You will guide cross-functional efforts, shape advanced analytics, and ensure scalable data foundations to support long-term product health and business outcomes. This role emphasizes leadership, strategy, and hands-on ML.

Qualifications

• Ph.D., M.S., or Bachelor’s degree in Math, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, or other quantitative fields.
• Minimum 10 years of industry experience as a Scientist or equivalent (8+ years with a Ph.D.).
• Minimum 4 years of experience in people management, with proven track record of managing managers and senior ICs.
• Proven leadership in influencing long-term strategy and technical direction across multiple orgs.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high-performing organization of scientists, including mentoring senior ICs and coaching other people managers.
• Define the technical vision and roadmap for critical product areas, balancing customer empathy with business needs and engineering constraints.
• Drive strategic thinking in marketplace design, pricing algorithms, and ML applications for efficiency and reliability.
• Refine complex business questions into structured analytical frameworks and deliver actionable insights to executives.
• Establish data foundations, instrumentation, and observability for evolving product areas.
• Partner with Engineering, Product, Ops, and Design to execute high-visibility initiatives that move Uber's metrics.
