Job summary

Uber Technologies Inc. is seeking a Senior Manager to lead and grow a high-performing data science organization for UberEats, guiding strategy, metrics, and the product impact across the Eater and Merchant experience.

You will mentor senior ICs, shape the technical vision, and partner with Engineering, Product, Ops, and Design to deliver enterprise-scale insights, with opportunities for bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Ph.D., M.S., or Bachelor's degree in Math, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, or other quantitative fields.
• Minimum 10 years of industry experience as a Scientist or equivalent (8+ years with a Ph.D.).
• Minimum 4 years of experience in people management, including managing managers and senior ICs.
• Proven leadership in influencing long-term strategy and technical direction across multiple organizations.
• Strategic organizational skills to restructure teams and drive cross-group impact.
• Advanced expertise in experimental design, causal inference, and ML model development in production.
• Proficiency with Python or R for large-scale data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high-performing organization of scientists, mentoring senior ICs and other managers.
• Define the technical vision and roadmap for critical product areas with engineering constraints.
• Drive strategic thinking in marketplace design, pricing algorithms, and ML applications.
• Refine ambiguous business questions into structured analytical frameworks and deliver insights to leadership.
• Guide data foundations, instrumentation, and observability for evolving product areas.
• Partner with Engineering, Product, Ops, and Design to execute high-visibility initiatives.
