Job summary

Uber Technologies Inc. is seeking a highly skilled data scientist to lead end-to-end data science initiatives, from problem framing to experimentation and product impact.

You will prototype ML, optimization, and causal inference models, derive data-driven insights, and shape metrics and dashboards with cross-functional partners. The role emphasizes building scalable data solutions, driving experiments, and influencing product decisions across Uber's delivery, mobility, and marketplace platforms.

Qualifications

• Ph.D., M.S. or Bachelor's degree in Economics, Statistics, Machine Learning, Operations Research, or other quantitative fields.
• 4+ years of industry experience as an Applied or Data Scientist or equivalent (or 2+ years with Ph.D.).
• Background in programming languages such as Python, R, Java, Ruby, Scala/Spark or Perl.
• Ability to use Python or similar to work with large data sets and prototype algorithms & models.
• SQL proficiency and ability to develop statistical analyses and prototyping.

Responsibilities

• Solve ambiguous business problems using data-driven approaches including ML, Optimization, Causal Inference.
• Develop and implement statistical/econometric methodologies to improve results validity and generalizability.
• Develop data-driven insights and collaborate with cross-functional customers to identify opportunities.
• Design and analyze experiments and present actionable recommendations.
• Drive data-driven product development by creating logging, metrics, visualization, and experimentation paradigms.
• Define success metrics in partnership with cross-functional teams.
• Own the product development cycle end to end from data and science.
