Andersen James Group is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead and grow a mechanical engineering practice focused on complex, ground-up projects in data centers, life sciences, and manufacturing. You will own technical delivery, develop a small team, and shape standards across the group.
The role calls for an established leader with a PE license who can drive performance across multidisciplinary teams in a hybrid, Austin-based setting. st
We’re partnering with a major US organization that is making a significant investment in building out its integrated architecture and engineering capability, with a particular focus on complex, technically demanding projects.
They are now looking to appoint a Senior Mechanical Engineering Manager who can combine strong technical engineering credentials with proven people leadership.
This is a particularly interesting opportunity because the practice is still being built. Rather than stepping into a rigid, mature structure, you’ll have the opportunity to influence how the mechanical engineering function develops, help establish standards and processes, and build a team around you as the workload grows.
The business is delivering complex, predominantly ground-up projects across Mission Critical/Data Centers, Advanced Manufacturing, Semiconductor, Life Sciences, Healthcare and Laboratory environments.
You’ll take leadership and technical ownership of complex mechanical engineering projects, working across the project lifecycle and collaborating closely with multidisciplinary design, construction and prefabrication teams.
Alongside hands-on technical/project leadership, you’ll initially manage a small engineering team, with the expectation that you will grow and develop that group as the practice expands.
The successful candidate will be an established mechanical engineering leader with:
A collaborative, progressive mindset and an interest in challenging traditional approaches to design and construction.
The attraction here is less about joining another traditional engineering consultancy and more about helping build something.
The wider organization already has significant scale, project pipeline and resources, while this particular engineering practice is still in a high-growth phase. Senior hires joining now will have genuine input into how the group operates and develops.
There is also a deliberate push toward bringing design, construction and prefabrication closer together, allowing engineers to influence constructability and delivery much earlier than they typically would within a conventional consulting environment.
The culture is collaborative, low-ego and progressive, and they are particularly interested in people who believe traditional design and construction processes can be improved.
Hybrid – approximately 2 days per week in-office initially, with increased flexibility once established.
Senior Manager bonus opportunity is approximately 15–20% of base salary, across individual and company performance components.
