I’m working confidentially with a Top 10 multidisciplinary engineering consultancy looking to appoint a Senior Mechanical Engineering Team Lead within its growing North Texas buildings practice.
This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for an experienced Mechanical PE who wants to take ownership of a team while remaining closely involved in technical design, project delivery and client relationships.
You’ll help shape the direction of the mechanical group, develop engineers at different stages of their careers and provide senior technical oversight across a diverse portfolio of complex building projects.
The Opportunity
You’ll operate as both a people leader and senior technical resource, with responsibility for:
- Leading, mentoring and developing a team of mechanical engineers and designers.
- Managing workload, project assignments, staffing requirements and resource planning.
- Providing technical leadership across HVAC and wider building mechanical systems.
- Establishing project scopes, budgets, schedules and delivery strategies.
- Reviewing calculations, system selections, specifications, design documents and technical reports.
- Coordinating with clients, architects, engineers, contractors and other project stakeholders.
- Supporting projects through construction, including site visits, submittals, RFIs and technical problem-solving.
- Leading QA/QC reviews and helping improve technical standards and project performance.
- Supporting the continued growth and development of the North Texas engineering practice.
What We’re Looking For
- Approximately 15+ years of mechanical engineering experience within the buildings sector.
- An active Professional Engineer licence, ideally in Texas or with the ability to obtain Texas registration.
- Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, building mechanical equipment, energy standards and relevant codes.
- Previous experience leading, mentoring or managing engineers and designers.
- A track record of delivering large, complex or technically demanding building projects.
- Experience managing project scope, budget, schedule and multidisciplinary coordination.
- Working knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD and HVAC load-calculation software.
- Strong client-facing, communication and problem-solving skills.
Experience across technically complex environments such as healthcare, higher education, advanced facilities, manufacturing or mission-critical buildings would be valuable, although broader commercial buildings experience will also be considered.
Why Consider It?
- Take genuine ownership of a mechanical engineering team.
- Remain technically engaged rather than moving into a purely managerial role.
- Influence staffing, quality, delivery and the continued growth of the practice.
- Work alongside a wider multidisciplinary team on substantial building projects.
- Join an established consultancy with strong resources, professional-development support and long-term progression opportunities.
- Competitive compensation, potential bonus eligibility and a comprehensive benefits package.
