Job summary

TerraPower in Bellevue, WA leads advanced nuclear reactor research. The Senior Manager oversees the Core Materials team, directing development, qualification and testing of materials for Natrium projects.

You will manage staff, budgets, schedules, and cross‑discipline collaboration to deliver high‑quality core materials initiatives. Ideal candidates bring 12+ years in engineering, with nuclear materials experience, leadership, and strong quality systems knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in materials science/engineering and at least 12 years of related experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of supervisory or people leadership experience.
• Experience with nuclear materials (fuel cladding and core structural materials) in high-temperature and sodium environments.
• Understanding of materials characterization and processing technology.
• Experience with ISO-9001/AS9100 and design control practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Core Materials team with clear direction and priorities.
• Define strategic/technical direction aligned with Natrium program objectives.
• Oversee Core Materials scope, planning, and integration with other disciplines.
• Maintain Core Materials schedule and budget with Project Management.
• Coordinate with executives, external partners, and regulators to advance core materials and fuel tech.
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and high‑performing work environment.
• Develop and coach team members; manage staffing and promotions.
