Job summary

TerraPower, based in Bellevue, WA, seeks a Fuel Manufacturing Lead Engineer to lead the technical elements of fuel and non-fuel core component fabrication. You will guide scale-up from lab to production and coordinate with design, neutronics, and safety teams.

You will mentor engineers, uphold nuclear QA standards, and interact with suppliers, project managers, and regulators to advance TerraPower’s Natrium program and long-term safe, economical nuclear energy.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in nuclear engineering or related fields with advanced degrees credit.
• Experience in nuclear fuel design/manufacture is strongly preferred for fast or advanced reactors.
• Experience under a nuclear QA program (e.g., ASME NQA-1, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B).
• Experience with licensing and supplier qualification of nuclear components.
• Ability to lead through influence in a matrix organization and mentor teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for fuel and non-fuel fabrication processes from lab scale to production.
• Coordinate with reactor design, neutronics, and safety teams to reflect fabrication requirements.
• Ensure compliance with nuclear QA programs and licensing basis.
• Mentor engineers and develop team capabilities for program scale-up.
• Represent Fuel Manufacturing in reviews, planning, and NRC/DOE interactions.
