Job summary

The Montgomery County Department of Permitting Services (DPS) seeks a Manager III to oversee the Central Services Unit, managing a $50 million operating budget and leading six staff. The role requires strong fiscal operations expertise, collaboration with senior leadership, and commitment to excellent customer service.

Responsibilities include budget preparation, revenue reporting of over $100 million, policy development, and ensuring compliance with county controls.

Qualifications

• Five years of progressively responsible professional experience in finance, accounting, budget analysis, or related field.
• Bachelor’s degree required; equivalency may be substituted.
• Experience in government budget cycles, procurement/contract management, and revenue reporting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee preparation and management of a multi-million operating budget.
• Direct staff and ensure timely financial reports and compliance with county policies.
• Analyze fiscal and operational issues and defend the budget before officials.
• Oversee contract, vendor management, and revenue reporting processes.
• Lead policy development and drive performance management across the unit.
• Coordinate with senior leadership and external stakeholders to deliver services.
