The department issues approximately 40,000 building permits a year and conducts thousands of inspections by local code officials. The Department is seeking a Manager III, Grade M3, to oversee the Central Services Unit. The individual needs to have the knowledge and experience to oversee the preparation and management of a $50 million operating budget; leadership and time management skills to direct the staff in the different functions and services; and the ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with senior leadership, other county departments, and external stakeholders.
The incumbent in this position reports to the director and serves as a principal advisor on fiscal operations, departmental resource planning, and internal services delivery; and oversees the functions of the Central Services Unit, which includes the services and functions of budget and fiscal management, fleet management, contract management, the Fee Office, and MCtime.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree.
Five (5) years of progressively responsible professional experience in finance, accounting, budget analysis, or related field.
An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be substituted.
Ability to attend meetings and perform work assignments at locations outside the office.
Individuals appointed to a position in this class will be required to serve a probationary period of twelve (12) months, during which time performance will be carefully evaluated. Continuation in this class will be contingent upon successful completion of the probationary period.
