Job summary

American Electric Power seeks a Major Projects Director to lead a multi-billion-dollar generation program on-site in the United States. You will own safety, schedule, cost, and stakeholder alignment, directing project management across all components and coordinating with EPCs and contractors on site.

You will build a strong project leadership team, oversee budgeting and risk, and drive regulatory and commercial negotiations to deliver on time, within budget, and to quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, business, project management, accounting, finance, or related field.
• 10 years of qualified experience across major construction, project management, commissioning, or contract negotiations.
• PMP certification required.
• Valid state driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Own overall project execution including directing, guiding, and overseeing project management functions.
• Implement and oversee project safety program to achieve Zero Harm.
• Report on project strategy and team needs to Generation Executive leadership.
• Establish project commercial contracting strategy and negotiating project contractor, EPC, and engineering agreements.
• Drives integrated schedule across all workstreams and directs alignment with resource management.
• Maintains oversite of program budget and contingency.
• Identifies and manages executive risk register.
• Leads project change management.
• Build and mentor a trusting and cohesive project leadership team.
• Manages stakeholder relationships with utilities, regulators, landowners, and contractors.
• Ensures readiness for regulatory filings resulting in approvals.
