Job summary

AEP is seeking a Director of Major Projects for a large generation program. The role oversees all project management functions, safety, schedule, cost, and stakeholder alignment. The position may involve oversight of EPC contractors and on-site leadership for the duration of the project.

Responsibilities include driving integrated schedules, managing budgets and contracts, and ensuring regulatory compliance and permit readiness. Travel to project sites will be required as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required or higher in a related field.
• PMP certification required.
• 10+ years of qualified experience in major projects/contracting/leadership roles.

Responsibilities

• Own overall project execution and lead project management functions.
• Implement and oversee project safety program to achieve zero harm.
• Report on project strategy, budget, regulatory, and stakeholder needs to Generation Executive leadership.
• Negotiate contracts with contractors, EPCs, and engineering firms.
• Drive integrated schedule across all workstreams and manage project budget and risks.
• Mentor and develop a cohesive project leadership team.
• Build and maintain relationships with utilities, regulators, landowners, and contractors.
• Ensure regulatory filings readiness and permit approvals as required.
