Job summary

American Electric Power seeks a senior project leader to deliver large transmission projects with budgets up to $10 billion. You will be the single point of accountability for safety, schedule, cost, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder alignment, directing cross-functional teams, contractors, and partners to achieve on-time, on-budget delivery.

The role requires PMP, 10 years of experience across heavy energy projects, travel up to 50%, and the ability to report to executive leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Project Management, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 10 years of qualified experience across major construction projects and related areas.
• PMP certification required.
• Valid state driver’s license.
• Willing to travel up to 50%.

Responsibilities

• Direct overall project execution including directing project management functions.
• Oversee safety program to achieve Zero Harm.
• Report project strategy to Transmission Executive leadership with cross-functional considerations.
• Establish commercial contracting strategy and negotiate agreements.
• Lead executive governance with JV partners as required.
• Maintain integrated schedule and manage resources across workstreams.
• Oversee program budget, contingency, and regulatory filings readiness.
• Staffing management and vendor coordination.
• Deliver projects safely, on schedule, and within approved investment.
