IAT Insurance Group seeks a Major Case Unit Director in Alpharetta, GA, to lead highly complex exposure claims with national scope and $250,000+ exposure. The role supports a hybrid schedule with in-office Mon–Wed and optional remote Thu–Fri. Travel up to 50% and oversight of defense counsel are key elements.

The ideal candidate has 12+ years in claims, strong negotiation, and licensure; CPCU is preferred. Compensation includes base salary plus bonus and benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required with 12+ years of claims handling experience in insurance or equivalent.
• Equivalent experience defined as high school diploma with 16+ years in relevant claims handling.
• Extensive experience with commercial and homeowners’ property claims; large loss focus ($250k+).
• Experience handling litigated files and directing defense counsel; excellent negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Handle highly complex exposure claims per Claim Guidelines.
• Direct and manage investigators, appraisers, and experts; approve budgets for defense counsel.
• Develop litigation strategy; attend mediations, settlements, and trials as needed.
• Report to reinsurers as required; assist senior claim specialists as needed.
• Verify coverage and maintain contact with stakeholders throughout claim lifecycle.
• Investigate claims, gather information, interview, and review related bills.
