Job summary

IAT Insurance Group is seeking a Major Case Unit Director to lead complex claims handling with national scope, including high-exposure cases over $250,000.

The role offers a hybrid schedule (office Mon-Wed, remote Thu-Fri) with potential fully remote arrangements for ideal candidates; travel up to 50% and licensure required.

Starting salary ranges from $92,800 to $130,000 with bonus, 401(k) match, profit sharing, and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of claims handling experience.
• Equivalent: high school diploma and 16 years of relevant experience.
• Extensive experience with commercial and homeowners' property claims.
• At least 5 years of large loss property claims with exposure $250k+.
• Advanced knowledge of estimating using Xactimate and Cotality.
• Strong coverage analysis and ability to draft coverage position letters.

Responsibilities

• Handles highly complex exposure claims per guidelines.
• Directs independent investigators, appraisers, and defense counsel; approves budgets.
• Develops litigation strategy; attends mediations, settlement conferences, and trials as needed.
• Reports to reinsurers per guidelines.
• Assists Sr. Claim specialists with issue analysis.
• Verifies/analyzes applicable coverage for reported losses.
• Establishes 24-hour contact with stakeholders throughout the claim lifecycle.
• Investigates claims by gathering information and interviewing involved parties.
• Identifies subrogation opportunities; sets reserves per guidelines.
• Negotiates settlements within designated authority; drafts coverage correspondence.
• Maintains licenses; provides training to junior staff.
