Principal Duties/Responsibilities
- Performs expert level break-fix & preventative maintenance. This includes observing devices in operation to locate root causes, dismantling devices to access and remove defective parts, examining parts for imperfections, adjusting functional parts and control instruments, repairing or replacing defective parts, testing device performance, and performing tests on electrical circuitry and mechanical systems, as well as reconditioning and repairing machine tools.
- Identifies and sources parts, supplies, and repair items as necessary. Evaluates alternatives to improve cost and/or reliability of equipment.
- Independently performs maintenance following industry standards.
- Works with Planner Scheduler to optimize preventative maintenance procedures.
- May be required to set up and operate multiple machining tools, including lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools, to make and repair parts. Welding tasks may also be performed.
- Complies with 5S and housekeeping standards.
- Leads, drives, and participates in Continuous Improvement (CI) activities—processes, results, and cost savings using CI tools and methodology.
- Provides assistance to lower-level technicians and leadership in project teams. Performs expert functions as part of training and development.
- Troubleshoots and analyzes complex control systems to resolve in-depth software/hardware and configuration problems.
- Utilizes predictive maintenance technologies to collect equipment performance data, observes trends, and makes recommendations.
- Updates records, reviews CMMS history, and analyzes data.
- Completes and conducts on-the-job training and self-study programs for career development.
- Follows all safety policies, rules, regulations, technical instructions, and guidelines. Maintains situational awareness to identify unsafe behaviors and conditions.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Behaviors Required
- High School Graduate or equivalent (GED).
- Associate's degree with a technical focus and 5 years of related industry experience; or 7 years of industry experience.
- Experience in predictive technologies, precision alignments, and general maintenance of applicable process equipment.
- Understanding of electrical, mechanical, fluid power, and control systems. Ability to analyze problems, synthesize solutions, and perform repairs.
- Ability to use basic hand tools and specialized tools as appropriate.
- Experience in vibration analysis, laser interferometer operations, precision alignments, and maintenance of process equipment.
- May require travel.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Regularly required to stand, walk, handle or feel with hands, reach with arms, climb or balance at heights, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl in confined spaces, and communicate verbally and in writing. Occasionally required to sit and lift/move over 50 pounds. Must have good close and color vision. Exposure to outside weather, electrical shock risk, hazardous materials, and greasy or slippery floors in a loud factory environment.
