Job summary

Sonoco is seeking a Senior Industrial Maintenance Reliability Technician at our Hartselle, AL plant. The role focuses on proactive maintenance, troubleshooting, and improving reliability across mechanical, electrical, robotic/automation, and hydraulic systems.

You will analyze failures, perform repairs, and document activities in CMMS, ensuring safe, efficient operations. Location is onsite with a 2nd shift (2p-10p).

Qualifications

• High school diploma (preferably with a vocational focus).
• Associate’s degree in Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, or related technical field, or equivalent military experience.
• IMRT Level 1–4+ years in similar role; IMRT Sr Level 10+ years in similar role.
• Ability to read mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical schematics (including PLC program logic).
• Welding and machining skills (as required by location).

Responsibilities

• Understand and comply with safety policies and procedures.
• Proactively maintain, improve, install, and troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, robotic/automation, hydraulic, pneumatic, and steam systems/processes/equipment.
• Install/troubleshoot/maintain AC and DC drives/motors.
• Troubleshoot PLC programs; modify/write PLC programs as required.
• Perform preventive/predictive maintenance and drive proactive maintenance to zero failures.
• Document maintenance activity in CMMS and build asset history.
• Meet housekeeping and 5S standards in all maintenance areas.
• Support safety improvement processes and operator skill development.
