Job summary

Anawim Housing in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Maintenance Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of its maintenance team, coordinate work orders and unit turns, and ensure properties meet safety, health, and HUD/LIHTC standards. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, organized, and able to supervise a team while communicating effectively with residents, vendors, and management.

A strong background in multifamily maintenance is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in apartment, multifamily, commercial, or residential property maintenance.
• Previous supervisory or lead experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of general building maintenance and repair.
• Ability to troubleshoot plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, appliances, and general building issues.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day maintenance operations and lead the maintenance staff.
• Coordinate work orders and unit turns to ensure timely readiness.
• Maintain properties to high standards and ensure compliance with housing, health, and safety requirements.
• Supervise and train maintenance staff and activities; assign and prioritize daily work orders.
• Inspect vacant/occupied units, common areas, and building systems; oversee unit turns and readiness for move-in.
