Job summary

Ocado Group is seeking a Senior Maintenance Engineer to lead reactive and planned maintenance on mechanical handling equipment at our Customer Fulfillment Center. The role reports to the Engineering Team Manager and involves troubleshooting conveyors, lifts, cranes, and belts while maintaining safety and reliability.

The position requires training in North America for 6–9 weeks and may involve travel during startup.

Qualifications

• An Associate's or Vocational degree in an electrical or mechanical related discipline or advanced training with a minimum of five years experience.
• A minimum of five years of direct experience in the mechanical or electrical field.
• Strong electrical experience preferable within a FMCG environment.
• Knowledge / experience working with controls, analyzing faults and providing solutions.
• Experience with both reactive and preventative maintenance.
• Strong organization and communication skills, and the ability to work in a multi-disciplined team of varying levels of technical experience.
• This role involves working at height using a variety of access equipment, so you need to be comfortable working at heights.
• Good technical ability relating to automation hardware and software.
• Sound analytical skills with an eye for detail; good problem-solving ability and a practical approach.
• Experience working with computerized maintenance management systems.
• Numerate and PC literate, including G-Suite and MS Office programs.

Responsibilities

• React to MHE breakdowns and locate faults, analyze issues and complete fixes to minimize downtime.
• Maintain accurate records of work activities, tasks, parts used, and stores data.
• Align priorities and monitor KPIs to support optimized service.
• Coordinate with Inbound, Pick, Dispatch and support teams to guide labor and engineering activities.
• Mentor assigned Maintenance Engineers and oversee priorities.
• Perform assembly and sub-assembly repairs using instructions and schematics.
• Collaborate to improve machine reliability and diagnose faults for new equipment.
• Attend meetings, analyze data, and propose solutions to improve equipment performance.
• Contribute to engineering installation and commissioning projects.
• Complete quality inspections to ensure safe workmanship.
