Job summary

Adaptigent is seeking a Senior z/OS Systems Support Engineer to provide expert administration, maintenance, and problem determination for IBM z/OS environments. This fully remote position emphasizes development/test environments and cross-functional collaboration.

You will diagnose complex mainframe issues, support CICS/CTG, USS, JES, RACF, and other subsystems, and contribute to automation with REXX/JCL scripts while learning new technologies as needs evolve.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting IBM z/OS systems in a systems programming or admin role.
• Strong knowledge of z/OS subsystems and IBM mainframe technologies.
• Ability to diagnose complex problems using diagnostic data and logs.
• Willingness to learn and support additional technologies as needs evolve.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide administration, maintenance, and problem determination for z/OS environments.
• Diagnose and resolve OS, subsystem, storage, security, and software issues.
• Install, configure, and upgrade IBM and third-party software.
• Develop and maintain REXX/JCL scripts for automation.
• Collaborate with development teams and customers to resolve issues.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and procedures.
• Share knowledge via cross-training to strengthen team coverage.
• Support development/test mainframe environments and cross-functional work.
