Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Senior Mainframe DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) to support, optimize, and automate Db2 for z/OS and IDMS environments. You will handle performance tuning, backup/recovery, DR readiness, and on-call support for critical systems.

The role emphasizes deep Db2 z/OS expertise, SQL performance tuning, JCL, and production support within large-scale mainframe platforms, with opportunities to influence upgrades and automation initiatives.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on Db2 for z/OS DBA experience (design, maintenance, performance tuning, backup/recovery, production support).
• 3+ years with Db2 Administration Tools, Query Monitor, OMEGAMON, and Db2 utilities (LOAD, UNLOAD, RUNSTATS, REORG, COPY, RECOVER, SPUFI).
• 3+ years of advanced SQL performance tuning, access path analysis, query optimization, and index management in Db2 z/OS.
• 3+ years of JCL development, DBA job scheduling, and 24x7 production on-call support in large-scale mainframe environments.
• 1+ year of experience designing, implementing, or supporting database replication in complex enterprise environments.

Responsibilities

• Administer and support enterprise Db2 z/OS and IDMS databases across production and non-production environments.
• Optimize database performance through SQL tuning, access path analysis, index recommendations, RUNSTATS, REORG, and resource utilization analysis.
• Develop and implement automation solutions to improve database administration processes and operational efficiency.
• Manage database backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery processes, including DR documentation and testing.
• Support Db2 Function Level upgrades, version migrations, RSU maintenance, and database utility execution.
• Respond to database support requests, change requests, audit inquiries, and production incidents while participating in a 24x7 on‑call rotation.
