Job summary

U.S. Bank in Irving, TX seeks a senior Mainframe Developer to analyze, design, test, develop and maintain complex Mainframe applications. You will work with agile teams, contribute to DevOps practices, and ensure minimal impact to customer experience.

You will lead architecture discussions, mentor junior staff, and drive modernization initiatives while maintaining performance, reliability, and SLAs across critical business systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• 5–6 years of relevant experience in mainframe development.
• Experience with COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS, MQ, and IMS database development.
• Knowledge of SDLC and DevOps practices; strong debugging and performance tuning.
• Experience supporting large-scale transaction processing systems in banking/finance.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, debug, document, and maintain Mainframe applications.
• Participate in architecture, effort estimation, planning, and roadmaps.
• Analyze requirements and propose scalable, high-performance solutions.
• Collaborate across the SDLC with design, development, testing, and support teams.
• Create technical designs and detailed functional specs; ensure SLAs.
• Troubleshoot production issues across Mainframe environments.
• Lead release management and deployment activities; ensure coding standards.
• Mentor developers and contribute to modernization initiatives.
