Job summary

U.S. Bank in Chicago seeks a skilled Mainframe Developer to analyze, design, test, and maintain complex applications. You will work within Agile and DevOps practices, collaborating across the organization to ensure reliability and performance of critical banking systems.

The role requires 5–6 years of experience with COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, MQ, IMS DB, and mainframe tools. BS or equivalent work experience is expected, along with strong communication and leadership abilities.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
Five to six years of relevant experience.
Experience with mainframe development, troubleshooting, tuning, and debugging.
Experience supporting large-scale mainframe transaction processing systems.
Experience in SDLC methodologies and release implementation processes.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, debug, document, and maintain complex Mainframe applications.
Participate in architecture activities, estimation, planning and roadmaps.
Analyze requirements and propose scalable, high-performance solutions.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the SDLC including implementation and support.
Develop and maintain program specifications ensuring performance and reliability.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues across Mainframe environments.
Lead deployment and release management activities with coding standards in mind.
Mentor developers and provide technical guidance for improvements and modernization.
