Job summary

Blue Origin in Seattle, WA, is seeking an experienced mechanical/aerospace engineer to lead the life cycle design of fluid-handling, thermal, mechanical, and structural components for the lunar fuel cell assembly. You will define requirements, drive decisions, and collaborate across subsystems to meet mission objectives.

The role offers hands-on design, analysis, testing, and mentoring within a fast-paced, safety-focused culture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in ME/AE or related field.
  • 3+ years of aerospace or related industry experience.
  • Experience with 3D CAD modeling and PLM systems.
  • Experience with GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
  • Experience interpreting and generating P&IDs.
  • Experience with structural, thermal, and fluid design/analysis of piping and tubing systems.
  • Knowledge of fluid system hardware (valves, regulators, pumps).
  • Knowledge of thermal system hardware (pumps, cold plates, radiators, sensors).
  • Familiarity with fabrication/installation quality control for piping systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design and analyze fluid-handling, thermal, mechanical, and secondary structure components within the integrated fuel cell assembly.
  • Define requirements and drive design decisions to meet mission objectives balancing cost, schedule, and risk.
  • Utilize CAD practices and analyses (structural, thermal, CFD).
  • Collaborate with other subsystems to document components and assemblies.
  • Work with suppliers to identify, procure, fabricate, and install flight hardware.
  • Create test plans and manage testing/qualification of components.
  • Communicate development status, risks, and challenges to management.
  • Mentor engineers and perform technical peer reviews.
