Job summary

Maryland Department of Health seeks an LTSSMaryland Application Development Architect to lead architecture, standards, and enterprise solution design. The role ensures secure, scalable, and maintainable software across LTSSMaryland, while guiding vendor activities and technical governance.

The position provides leadership for development, QA, systems analysis, and complex integrations, with hybrid telework eligibility and collaboration with program leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• At least seven years of IT and business/industry experience.
• At least three years as a technical expert mentoring staff and guiding complex IT decisions.
• Experience with Medicaid or healthcare organizations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct application architecture, standards, and software development practices for LTSSMaryland systems.
• Review vendor and internal software activities for design, standards, and contractual compliance.
• Perform code and architecture reviews to validate security, performance, and maintainability.
• Provide technical leadership for complex enhancements, integrations, and enterprise solutions.
• Support development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of business-critical apps and services.
• Establish and maintain development standards, architectural patterns, and governance practices.
• Advise leadership, project teams, and vendors on system design and deployment strategies.
• Assist with resolving complex integration and technical support issues across LTSSMaryland environments.
• Coach and mentor staff and vendor leads on development practices.
