Job summary

Broadview FCU in Albany, NY is hiring a Loss Mitigation Specialist (Collections) to manage collections for negative balances and delinquent loans. This role also mentors staff and ensures accurate record-keeping within regulatory guidelines.

The candidate will handle calls, coordinate with fraud and other departments, and maintain up-to-date compliance with NYS and federal collection laws. Notary certification is a plus, with a starting hourly wage in the stated range.

Qualifications

• Notary Public certification preferred or ability to obtain certification.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret legal documents and NYS, Federal and Collection guidelines.
• Associates Degree from accredited college or university and minimum of three years telephone collection or call center environment experience required.
• Good writing and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Act as a resource for policy and procedural questions from Loss Mitigation staff.
• Work daily negative share work flow and check queue.
• Responsible for the collection of shares assigned by department management.
• Handle incoming and outgoing phone calls as they pertain to both the department and position specific duties.
• Responsible for the accurate maintenance of records that may be used in the collection of all negative shares and loans.
• Experienced with Telephone Collection Practices Act and Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
• Understand chex systems reporting.
• Review exception report in FIS weekly to maintain reporting is being conducted as schedule with no major issues.
• Manually update any items that do not report properly.
• Work closely with the Fraud department help identify potential fraud/scams or suspicious items
