The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years in logistics claims, strong negotiation skills, and advanced Excel abilities. Responsibilities include audits, settlements, and data-driven root-cause analysis to reduce losses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in a related field.
• 6+ years of directly related experience.
• Proficient in SAP, Cello Logistics, and WMS/TMS.
• Advanced Excel skills including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables.
• Strong negotiation and conflict-resolution skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to interpret contracts and insurance guidelines.
• Excellent organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Claims Investigation & Validation.
• Investigate OS&D (Overage, Shortage, and Damage) claims, shipment refusals, and carrier disputes.
• Audit Proof of Delivery (POD), bills of lading (BOL), shipping documentation, and inspection photos to verify the legitimacy of claims.
• Research deductions, customer disputes, and overpayments to determine whether credit is warranted or whether chargebacks/repay letters need to be issued.
• Carrier & 3PL Financial Recovery.
• File and track freight claims with carriers, freight forwarders, and insurance underwriters.
• Negotiate settlements and recoveries according to carrier liability rules, contracts, and insurance coverage.
• Maintain and update claims aging reports to minimize outstanding balances.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration & Settlement.
• Work closely with Warehouse Operations, Billing/Settlement, Customer Service, and Transportation teams to resolve operational discrepancies.
• Coordinate with Accounting and Finance teams to reconcile accounts receivable (AR)/accounts payable (AP) impacts from deductions and settlements.
• Reporting & Root-Cause Analysis.
• Track claim trends and metrics to identify systemic operational bottlenecks.
• Recommend packaging, handling, or routing process enhancements to mitigate recurring cargo damage or loss.
