Job summary

Via Elegante Assisted Living & Memory Care in Hereford, AZ, is seeking a hands-on Sous Chef to join our culinary team. You will work with the Executive Chef to deliver high-quality meals while keeping the kitchen safe, sanitary, and efficient.

Ideal candidates have culinary experience, ServSafe certification (or within 90 days), and strong leadership and communication skills. The role supports senior Living residents and requires flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old and able to read and write in English.
• Experienced in food service; culinary experience is preferred.
• ServSafe Management certified or able to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.
• Organized, dependable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented.
• Comfortable working independently while also being a strong team player.
• Able to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• A confident communicator who can lead, coach, and support team members.
• Professional, positive, and committed to providing excellent customer service.
• Compassionate and sensitive to the needs of older adults.
• Able to maintain confidentiality and treat residents, families, visitors, and coworkers with respect.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Executive Chef and Culinary Team to maintain consistent food quality and presentation.
• Ensure kitchen operations meet food safety, sanitation, quality, and compliance standards.
• Monitor inventory, maintain accurate records, and order supplies as needed.
• Prepare and direct food preparation when necessary.
• Perform required food temperature, equipment temperature, and chemical balance checks.
• Assist with training, supervision, coaching, and development of Kitchen Staff.
• Keep food preparation areas, equipment, and common areas clean, safe, and sanitary.
• Deliver food and beverages to satellite kitchens at multiple locations.
• Proactively identify and resolve kitchen and community challenges.
• Assist with general maintenance requests and other Community Operations needs as assigned.
