Job summary

Sedgebrook in Chicago, IL is seeking a Manager of Plant Operations to lead the physical operations of the community, ensuring maintenance, safety, and regulatory compliance across buildings and grounds for residents and staff.

You will manage a team of plant operations staff, develop preventive maintenance plans, assist with budgeting, coordinate vendors, and ensure emergency readiness and OSHA compliance. A strong background in facilities management and healthcare settings is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training preferred.
• Minimum 3-5 years in plant operations or facilities management, with 2+ years in supervision.
• Knowledge of building systems, maintenance procedures, and safety regulations.
• Experience in healthcare or senior living settings preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours and respond to emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for apartments and community.
• Assist with budgeting and strategy for the department.
• Ensure timely response to service requests and maintenance of buildings.
• Lead daily operations of maintenance, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical and repairs.
• Oversee move-ins/outs and vendor relationships; coordinate contracted services.
• Advise Executive Director on maintenance schedules and progress; ensure safety inspections.
• Maintain emergency back-up systems and fire drill/safety records.
