Job summary

The Neighborhood in Rio Rancho is seeking a compassionate Medical Records Coordinator to join our team. You will manage resident records, protect confidentiality, and ensure accurate, timely exchange of information between departments in line with state and federal regulations.

Requirements include an associates degree or comparable training, proficiency with EMR systems (PointClickCare/MatrixCare), and keen attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or comparable training/experience in medical records, healthcare, or a related field preferred.
• Strong knowledge of medical records laws and regulations in long-term care.
• Proficiency in English reading and writing with a working knowledge of medical terminology.
• Strong computer skills, particularly with electronic medical records systems (PointClickCare and/or MatrixCare).
• Knowledge of diagnostic coding and healthcare documentation standards.
• Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to communicate professionally and work collaboratively with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage incoming calls and address resident and visitor needs promptly and professionally.
• Oversee completeness, confidentiality, and security of medical records; ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
• Review documentation for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness from nursing staff and IDT.
• Assist with implementing corrective actions and supporting compliance initiatives.
• Educate clinical staff on documentation standards and best practices.
