Job summary

Commonwealth Senior Living is seeking a Maintenance Assistant in Hillsville, VA to support the Maintenance Director in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and safety compliance across the community. The role requires at least three years in maintenance, English proficiency, and a high school diploma or GED, with on-call duties to cover 24/7 operations.

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum of three (3) years of maintenance experience.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English.
• Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and building and fire safety codes.
• Experience with senior/geriatric population a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance on grounds, facilities and equipment.
• Repair plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and mechanical systems as directed.
• Maintain safe operating and fire prevention practices.
• Prepare vacant rooms to rent-ready condition within 72 hours of move-out.
• Provide transportation for residents as directed by Executive Director.
• On-call for emergencies; 24/7 operations.
