Job summary

The Cedars of Chapel Hill is an upscale retirement community seeking a qualified Cook to join our culinary team. You will assist Line Cooks and perform cold prep, ensuring meals meet standardized recipes and dietary orders for our residents.

Qualifications

• One to two years experience as a cook in a hotel, restaurant, club or similar institution.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively, and perform simple arithmetic.
• Ability to organize work in priority order.
• Ability to interpret instructions, recipes, specifications and standards.
• Knowledge of basic kitchen equipment operations. Some knowledge of nutrition and diet preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare greens, dressing, and vinaigrettes per the daily menu.
• Prepares and stocks all produce for the daily menu.
• Prepare for food served, following standard recipes and special diet orders per instruction. Assist in food production to coordinate with meal serving hours, so that excellence, quality, temperature and appearance of food are preserved.
• Determine amount and type of food and supplies required for daily menus responsibilities and see that supplies are obtained from storage areas in adequate time for meal production.
• Assist prep cook and utility personnel as needed.
