Job summary

Harmony Senior Services, Dover, Delaware, is seeking a Food Service/Prep Aide to assist the cook with food preparation and presentation at our senior living community. You will manage the dishwashing area, maintain cleanliness of dishes and equipment, and support dining operations to ensure residents and guests receive prompt, courteous service.

The role involves preparing items as requested, portioning desserts, stocking shelves, and helping with kitchen and dining room tasks.

Qualifications

• Good organizational skills and ability to work well with others as part of a team.
• Must be able to work under close supervision.
• Basic knowledge of kitchen operation and use of kitchen equipment.
• Able to understand and retain simple instructions and apply them to position.
• Able to stand, kneel, and walk for extended periods.
• Able to tolerate temperature extremes, wet/humid conditions, and noise.
• Must lift up to 50 lbs and carry heavy objects for up to 20 feet.
• Must wear slip resistant footwear.
• Available to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• The Food Service/Prep Aide shall assist the cook in the preparation and presentation of food.
• Prepare food items as requested and portion/plate salads and desserts.
• Assist with cleaning of kitchen, floors and equipment and run the dishwashing operation.
• Stock food on shelves and in the refrigerator; replace towels and clean hand sink.
• Report problems in the kitchen or dining room to the supervisor; attend in-service meetings.
• Provide superior customer service to residents and guests; assist with dining room service as needed.
