Job summary

Harmony in Virginia Beach is seeking an experienced Dining Services Supervisor to oversee meal preparation, sanitation, and budget compliance. You will supervise dining staff and ensure quality across service areas.

Requirements include Serv-Safe certification or willingness to obtain within 60 days, leadership experience in dining services, strong reading/writing skills, ability to lift 50 lbs, and flexible scheduling. Salary ranges $48,000–$55,000 annually.

Qualifications

• Must be Serv-Safe certified, or be willing to become certified within 60 days of hiring.
• Must have dining services experience in a management or leadership capacity.
• Must have a working knowledge of ordering, storing, preparing and serving in a food service environment, preferably in a senior living community.
• Must possess the ability to read, write, and make simple calculations.
• Must be a quick learner and be able to effectively apply principles learned.
• Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time and withstand temperature extremes, wet and/or humid conditions and noise.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis or at least eight (8) times per shift.
• Must be able to carry, pull or push heavy objects up to 20 feet.
• Must be organized, and able to work well with others as part of a team.
• Must be in a designated uniform during working hours and maintain good personal hygiene and neat public appearance.
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule to include evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Supervises dining staff to ensure proper preparation of food and use of raw food and supplies.
• Ensures sanitation requirements meet health regulations and community standards.
• Maintains quality standards and stays within budget for food/supply costs.
• Prepares and presents menu items according to standard recipes.
• Attends staff meetings and in-services as required.
• Trains new dining associates and conducts in-service training as directed.
• Follows confidentiality policies regarding release of resident information.
• Supervises dining staff in the absence of the Dining Services Director.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
