Job summary

Cedarhurst Senior Living in Logansport, Indiana is seeking a Dining Services Specialist to supervise the food service program, plan nutritious meals for residents, and train dining teams. You will oversee staffing, menus, budgets, and vendor relations to ensure high quality dining experiences.

The role emphasizes leadership, resident hospitality, and collaboration with the Executive Director and care teams.

Qualifications

• Three years of dining leadership experience in a senior care community with proven leadership.
• Collaborative team player able to establish effective working relationships.
• Staff management and/or coaching experience in dining services.
• Strong customer service and hospitality toward residents, staff and visitors.
• Sound organizational skills with attention to detail and multitasking ability.
• Self-motivated with accountability for results and deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; comfortable presenting to groups.
• Dependable with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
• Appreciation of seniors and understanding of aging processes.
• Ability to apply basic math, fractions, percentages to practical tasks.
• Budgeting and cost control awareness in food service.

Responsibilities

• Schedule staff on an ongoing basis (two weeks in advance).
• Plan and implement a menu cycle with seasonal items.
• Keep food and supply costs within budget.
• Maintain communication with vendors.
• Manage food inventories and related records.
• Instruct staff on operation, maintenance and cleaning of kitchen equipment.
• Provide hands-on training for dining service roles.
• Recruit and hire dining staff and orientate new hires.
• Assist with monthly staff in-service meetings and committees.
• Support Sales/Marketing efforts to enhance resident satisfaction and participation in tours.
