Job summary

The Hickory Falls Health and Rehabilitation Center is seeking an Assistant Dietary Manager to support the dietary department in a skilled nursing setting. You will help ensure residents receive safe, nutritious, and timely meals while complying with federal and North Carolina regulations.

The role emphasizes leadership, coordination of dietary staff, meal service, and collaboration with nursing and the Registered Dietitian to maintain high-quality dining services.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in healthcare food service preferred.
• Supervisory or leadership experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Ability to read and follow therapeutic diet orders.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with residents, families, coworkers, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Must be dependable, professional, and able to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Dietary Manager with daily dietary department operations.
• Coordinate, schedule, and supervise dietary staff.
• Assist with meal preparation, tray service, dining room service, and meal delivery.
• Ensure meals follow resident diets, physician orders, and care plans.
• Monitor special diets, allergies, and substitutions.
• Maintain diet lists and service records.
• Promote food safety and sanitation practices.
• Monitor temperatures and proper storage of foods.
• Inventory control and storage of food and supplies.
• Maintain clean kitchen and dining environment.
• Provide training and support to dietary staff.
• Address resident concerns professionally.
• Collaborate with nursing, RD, and interdisciplinary team.
• Prepare for regulatory surveys and maintain department records.
• Follow facility policies and local regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
