Job summary

SanStone Health is seeking an Assistant Dietary Manager for Hickory Falls Health and Rehabilitation Center to support daily dietary operations and ensure residents receive safe, nutritious meals in compliance with federal and North Carolina requirements.

You will coordinate dietary staff, assist with meal preparation and service, and collaborate with nursing and the Registered Dietitian to maintain quality care and regulatory readiness.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Ability to read and follow therapeutic diet orders and meal plans.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform the physical requirements associated with kitchen and meal-service duties.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day operations of the dietary department.
• Coordinate, schedule, and supervise dietary staff.
• Assist with meal preparation, tray service, dining room service, and meal delivery.
• Ensure meals and snacks are prepared and served according to resident diets, physician orders, and care plans.
• Monitor special diets, food preferences, allergies, and meal substitutions.
• Assist with maintaining accurate diet lists and meal service records.
• Promote proper food handling, sanitation, infection control, and kitchen safety practices.
• Monitor food temperatures and ensure proper storage, labeling, dating, and rotation of food products.
• Assist with inventory control, ordering, receiving, and proper storage of food and supplies.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and dining environment.
• Provide training, direction, and support to dietary employees as assigned.
• Assist with addressing resident concerns regarding meals and dining services in a professional and compassionate manner.
• Work collaboratively with nursing, administration, the Registered Dietitian, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
• Assist with preparation for regulatory surveys and maintain department records and documentation.
• Follow facility policies and procedures as well as applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Dietary Manager or facility administration.
