Job summary

Hayesville House in North Carolina is seeking an experienced Cook to join our culinary team and prepare nutritious, high-quality meals for residents.

You will work closely with the Dietary Manager and kitchen staff to ensure meals meet dietary requirements, are appetizing, and served timely while maintaining a clean, sanitary kitchen environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• Previous cooking experience in senior living, healthcare, or restaurant settings preferred.
• Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations.
• Ability to follow recipes and meal plans.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Compassion for and a desire to work with the elderly.

Responsibilities

• Food preparation and cooking meals according to menus and dietary needs.
• Meal service with attention to quality, portion control and presentation.
• Kitchen cleanliness and sanitation following regulations.
• Collaborate with the Dietary Manager and kitchen staff; assist in training.
• Assist with inventory and report shortages or needs.
• Respond to residents' dietary requests and preferences.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations and proper sanitation practices.
