Discovery Commons Newark, part of Discovery Senior Living, is seeking a compassionate Caregiver to enrich residents' lives through hands-on care and companionship in a home-like setting in Newark, Delaware. You will support daily activities, monitor safety, and help residents maintain dignity and independence while fostering a warm community atmosphere.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Prior experience working with seniors preferred.
• Strong communication with residents, team members, and leadership.
• Compassionate, resident-focused approach with superior customer service skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Sound judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for designated group of residents during shift; ensures awareness of whereabouts and conducts frequent checks.
• Provide daily personal care support, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, ambulation, transferring, and eating assistance.
• Respond to security system and resident call bells promptly.
• Help residents maintain independence while promoting dignity, safety, and overall well-being.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of resident rooms and work areas.
• Offer companionship, encouragement, and emotional support to residents.
• Engage residents in meaningful life skills activities and enrichment programs.
• Notify supervisor and/or health care coordinator if a resident has increased care needs.
• Other duties as assigned.
