Job summary

Discovery Senior Living in Newark, DE is seeking a caring Caregiver to provide hands-on support to residents, creating a safe, home-like environment and meaningful connections each day.

You’ll assist with daily activities including personal care, mobility, and meals, maintain safety, encourage independence, and contribute to a compassionate team dedicated to quality of life for seniors in our Newark community.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Prior experience working with seniors preferred
• Strong communication skills with residents, team members, and leadership
• Compassionate, resident-focused approach with superior customer service skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively; sound judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities

Responsibilities

• Responsible for designated group of residents during shift; ensures awareness of whereabouts and conducts frequent checks
• Provide daily personal care support, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, ambulation, transferring, and eating assistance
• Respond to security system and resident call bells promptly
• Help residents maintain independence while promoting dignity, safety, and overall well-being
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of resident rooms and work areas
• Offer companionship, encouragement, and emotional support to residents
• Engage residents in meaningful life skills activities and enrichment programs
• Notify supervisor and/or health care coordinator if a resident has increased care needs
• Other duties as assigned
