Job summary

Commonwealth Senior Living in Hampton, VA seeks a Program Assistant to support the Resident Program Director in leading Sweet Memories and Assisted Living activities, helping residents stay engaged, healthy and active. You will assist with planning events, coordinate transportation and outings, maintain the monthly calendar and digital attendance, and uphold a warm, team-oriented environment.

A valid driver's license and ability to operate a community van are required; full-time benefits are

Qualifications

• Education or training in a health care field or certified as an activity professional by a recognized accrediting body, preferred but not required.
• Experience working with seniors and those with memory loss strongly preferred.
• Two years’ experience in activity planning for seniors preferred.
• Must have knowledge of social and psychological needs of residents.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and work without close supervision.
• Must have a clean driving record and be able to drive a large passenger van safely.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Program Director with planning and preparing physical, social, recreational and educational events.
• Assist with transportation and resident outings.
• Assist with producing the community monthly calendar.
• Maintain documentation and resident attendance through digital programs.
• Promote teamwork and a warm atmosphere for residents and staff.
• Continually evaluate activity quality and adjust as needed.
