Job summary

CrowdStrike is seeking a Senior Linux Systems Engineer to design, build, monitor, and maintain a large-scale multi-cloud infrastructure, including an expanding S3-compatible object store across thousands of Linux servers.

You will lead technical projects, mentor junior engineers, automate tasks with Chef/Ansible, and optimize kernel parameters, storage subsystems, and network performance while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• US Citizen or Green Card holder.
• 7+ years of professional experience working on large scale distributed systems.
• BS/MS degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent work experience).
• Extensive expertise in Linux internals including virtual memory management, process scheduling, and storage I/O subsystems.
• Proficiency with Linux performance analysis and monitoring tools and/or custom metrics collection.
• Experience with on-premise storage technologies, including AWS S3-compatible object storage.
• Strong networking fundamentals and observability tooling proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Perform Linux engineering and administration for thousands of bare metal and virtual machines.
• Engineer large-scale cloud environments for clustered object storage and public cloud concepts.
• Troubleshoot server hardware issues in a production environment.
• Automate complex tasks using Chef/Ansible and deploy via IaaS.
• Tune kernel parameters, filesystems, and storage for object storage performance.
• Deep-dive troubleshoot network and storage issues to maintain SLAs/SLOs.
• Write scripts/programs for automation, tools, dashboards, and alarms.
• Collaborate with teams to design robust, scalable solutions from concept to completion.
• Share best practices and raise the technical IQ of the team.
• Lead technical projects, manage timelines, and handle inter-team dependencies.
