Job summary

FirstEnergy is seeking a Distribution Instructor V to deliver high-quality lineworker training for apprentices and journey-level personnel. The role combines classroom instruction with hands-on field sessions, focusing on safety, proper techniques, and regulatory compliance.

You will evaluate progress, maintain records, and update curricula to reflect industry standards while promoting a safety-first culture across the training program.

Qualifications

• 12 years of journey level technical/field experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training or certifications preferred.
• Comprehensive knowledge of electrical transmission and distribution systems, construction standards, and safe work practices.

Responsibilities

• Deliver training programs that support field operations, including construction, maintenance, troubleshooting, work methods, and safety procedures.
• Demonstrate and supervise proper use of tools, equipment, climbing techniques, and rigging procedures in classroom and live environments.
• Evaluate trainee progress through practical assessments, written tests, and field observations; provide constructive feedback.
• Maintain training records, develop lesson plans, and update curriculum as industry standards evolve.
• Promote a safety‑first culture and collaborate with management to schedule trainings.
