Job summary

FirstEnergy is seeking a Distribution Instructor IV/V to deliver high-quality training for apprentices and journey-level lineworkers across our service territory. You will provide hands-on and classroom instruction on electrical theory, system operations, and safety practices, while mentoring trainees for growth and success.

Ideal candidates will have 8–12 years of journey-level experience, strong communication skills, and knowledge of OSHA/NESC standards.

Qualifications

8–12 years of journey-level technical/field experience.
Comprehensive knowledge of electrical transmission and distribution systems, construction standards, and safe work practices.
Valid Class A CDL preferred.
Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills; ability to engage and motivate adult learners.
Instructional training or adult-education certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

Deliver hands-on and classroom training for apprentices, journey-level lineworkers, and utility personnel.
Evaluate trainee progress through assessments, tests, and field observations; provide feedback.
Maintain training records, develop lesson plans, and update curriculum as industry standards evolve.
Promote a safety-first culture and serve as a role model for professionalism and teamwork.
Coordinate with management and instructors to schedule training sessions and support organizational goals.
