Job summary

FirstEnergy is seeking a Lineworker Training Instructor to deliver hands-on and classroom instruction for apprentices and journey-level lineworkers. You will develop technical skills, safety awareness, and professional standards within the electric utility industry.

The ideal candidate has extensive field experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to mentor adult learners while supporting safety initiatives and curriculum updates across FirstEnergy’s service territory.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred.
• 8–12 years journey-level electrical experience in transmission/distribution.
• Ability to climb poles and work at heights in various weather conditions.
• Strong communication and presentation skills for adult learners.
• Familiar with PowerPoint and Microsoft Office products.

Responsibilities

• Deliver training programs for apprentices and journey-level staff.
• Instruct on safety practices and OSHA/NESC regulations.
• Demonstrate and supervise use of tools, climbing techniques, and rigging.
• Evaluate trainee progress with assessments and field observations.
• Maintain training records and update curriculum as needed.
• Promote a safety-first culture and mentor learners.
• Coordinate schedules with management and other instructors.
• Support storm restoration and field initiatives as required.
