Job summary

ZettaJoule, Inc. is seeking a Licensing Engineer to drive regulatory submittals across the full licensing lifecycle of HTGR technology.

You will author, manage, and defend regulatory documents while coordinating with Systems Engineering, Design, and Quality teams to ensure alignment with NRC requirements. The role requires deep regulatory expertise, strong technical writing, and the ability to defend engineering arguments before regulators.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of progressive experience in the commercial nuclear industry or regulatory environment.
• Solid understanding of U.S. NRC regulations, guidance, and licensing frameworks.
• Exceptional technical writing, analytical rigor, and presentation capabilities.
• U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card) required or as specified by export controls.

Responsibilities

• Manage regulatory submittal schedules and pre-application engagement plans.
• Interface with NRC project managers, technical review branches, and industry groups.
• Identify regulatory gaps, interpret NRC requirements, and establish licensing positions.
• Plan, develop, and lead meetings with the NRC on reactor design aspects.
• Draft, review, and assemble licensing documentation for NRC submissions under 10 CFR Part 50.
• Coordinate the formal response process for NRC audits, requests, and engagements.
